Wiegand Readers
Northern Computers' Wiegand readers are virtually maintenance-free. With Northern's Wiegand readers you will have no continuing maintenance, repair or replacement costs.Wiegand readers offer high reliability, high security and flexibility at a reasonable cost. These readers can be used anywhere, regardless of the environment. Snow, rain, or extreme temperatures will not affect a Wiegand-based reader. Wiegand readers are not affected by radio frequency interference or external magnetic fields. You can place complete confidence in the ruggedness and reliability of these readers.
Wiegand technology consists of a series of specially treated wires which are embedded in each card. This proprietary manufacturing process, gives the treated wires unique magnetic properties. When the card is passed through the Wiegand reader, a sensing coil picks up the card number in the card. The reader then transmits the card number to the Access Control System for processing.
Pro Series Proximity Card Readers
Using advanced surface mount technology manufacturing techniques, the Pro Series readers offer high reliability, consistent read range characteristics, and low power consumption in a single easy to install package. The reader head consists of a single chip microprocessor which decodes the signal from the card and transmits it to the access control panel. Once verified the control panel will take the appropriate action. To send another card read to the control panel, the card must be removed from the general area of the reader and be presented again.Northern Computers' Pro Series proximity card readers easily replace other card reader technologies including Wiegand, magnetic stripe, barium ferrite, and others. Systems that accept these types of cards and readers will accept Northerns' Pro Series readers.
Pro Series cards may be used with any of the Pro Series reader head styles. Cards may also be produced with company logo, or have the users photograph and cardholder information printed or laminated onto the card.
Northern Computers' NR-1-WR and NR-2-WR Magnetic Stripe Card Readers
Provide a durable and versatile option in access control.NR-1-WR and NR-2-WR are compact, low profile card readers that may be mounted vertically or horizontally, and easily fit on most door units.
Using metal construction (cast zinc), the magnetic stripe card readers are designed to operate in all environments. All electronics and wiring are completely sealed from outdoor elements. The aesthetic appearance allows for installation inside an office building.
The magnetic stripe card readers can decode bank, ABA, and Northern Computers' formatted cards. The NR-1-WR supports ABA track 2 encoding, while the NR-2-WR supports ABA track 1 encoding. Consult factory for special configurations when using existing ABA encoded cards.
