Keep in mind that while sensitivity can be decreased, wheelchairs and other devices will often raise the alarm. Many smaller businesses opt for the slimmer model and allow those with mobility devices to simply enter, or to be checked with a wand.

Easy installation minutes out of the box.

There is a certain nervousness that everyone feels when a large piece of equipment is shipped. Usually such equipment requires assembly, and may be difficult to install and begin use. The Multi Zone addresses these concerns by shipping the metal detector in four easy to assemble pieces. It takes just eight screws to firmly attach them and be ready to plug and play. 

This metal detector is designed to be portable when needed, so assembly is meant to be fast and simple. (You can also purchase travel bags to move the metal detector from place to place without disassembly.) It may take up to 20 minutes to assemble the metal detector for the first time, but someone familiar with the process could likely handle assembly and disassembly within just a few minutes. 

Easy and fast installation with pre programmed options

After assembly the Multi Zone hands-free metal detector is very easy to install and start using right away. All you need to do is plug it in and choose from one of the 15 preset applications (school, hospital, government building, etc.) If you want to customize the settings to your personal preferences, you may spend a bit longer setting things up. Once determined, you can lock your settings in place by adding a passcode or locking the control panel completely.

Easily portable with optional casters and battery pack.

Even though this metal detector is an accurate, valuable tool in your security arsenal, it is very portable. As already mentioned, you can purchase a cover for the metal detector to protect it during transport as a whole unit. You can also purchase casters that can easily be installed on the legs for easier movement, and an optional battery pack allows you to have reliable and secure metal detection even when hosting outdoor events without a power source.

They can also accommodate a variety of power sources without rewiring or switches, from 100 to 240 VAC, 50 or 60 Hertz, or 40 Watts. Even though this metal detector is easy to put together, it is still very durable in its assembled form. The day to day wear and tear of portability doesn’t diminish its lifespan. This unit can also withstand and operate in extreme temperatures of -4 degrees Fahrenheit (-20 degrees Celsius) up to 140 degrees Fahrenheit (or 60 degrees Celsius). It can also function in climates or venues with up to 95% non condensing humidity.

If you register your device, you’ll be notified when firmware updates are available and whether or not it is recommended for your application. 

Detect metal objects from up to 20 zones at one time.

You don’t need to slow down traffic or create lines when you add a metal detector to your entrance. The Garrett Multi Zone metal detector is designed to detect objects in up to 20 zones at one time, allowing your guests to keep moving through the walk-through metal detector at a fairly swift pace. Only alarms or LED notification of metal detected will slow down entry.

Adjust sensitivity to meet your needs while avoiding false alarms.

Sensitivity adjustments are just one of the customizable settings that make this metal detector suitable for all types of buildings and locations. You can adjust these settings as needed based on the type of entry and your individual requirements. 

You can even increase or decrease sensitivity by zone. For example, if your staff all have ID badges that are to be displayed in a certain way, you can turn off that zone to prevent false alarms and unnecessary closer inspection.

Most often metal detectors pick up on harmless objects, but you still have to be able to maintain security by checking every indication of a violation upon entry. The autoscan frequency feature cancels out noise that can interfere with the metal detection technology. You can adjust autoscan features along with all of the other settings that you can customize to your use. This feature also helps add to the portability of the walk through metal detector.

This walk-through metal detector is essentially plug in play thanks to 15 engineered programs that you can implement at the push of a button. The programs are designed to meet the specific needs of organizations and sites, as applicable to:

• Government agencies, courts, and other law enforcement sites, where the most rigorous settings are used in the programs

• Special events, in which you have very lax settings designed to pick up a larger weapon or firearm.

Of course there are many other applications, such as within small or private airports, bus stations or depots, or even retail establishments.

Electrical safety and compatibility compliance

As mentioned above, the Garrett Multi Zone metal detector is versatile and able to be used with most power sources with little adaptation needed. In addition, our metal detectors all meet the electrical safety and compatibility requirements of the following agencies:

• The European Union’s Conformitè Europëenne (CE) Mark, which denotes those products in compliance with electrical safety standards.
• The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) regulates anything that uses a radio frequency, including metal detectors. Our metal detectors and their accessories meet these regulatory requirements.
• The Canadian Standards Association (CSA) which regulates electrical safety in Canada.
• The International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) is the entity responsible for the international electrical safety standards.

This metal detector also meets the requirements of certain professional organizations such as International Commission on Non-Ionizing Radiation Protection (ICNIRP) or the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE). 

Intuitive menu design

The metal detector’s menu makes it very easy to program your individualized settings. There are 32 characters on the menu screen that are easily associated to the settings that they adjust. You want to strictly limit access to your metal detector’s settings. It is wise not to allow those actually manning the door to access settings, as it creates opportunity for abuse of their position. You also don’t want anyone to be able to change settings as they walk by. 

With this metal detector, you can lock out the controls completely, or you can secure them with a predetermined and programmed access code. Without the code, no one will be able to adjust the settings to allow something through that shouldn’t be.
