What gives the XIS-6040 X-Ray Inspection System the advantage over other scanners manufactured by Astrophysics, Inc. is that it has a larger tunnel size at 60 x 40 cm (23.6 x 15.7 inches). This allows this scanner to accommodate even the biggest parcels, let alone the smallest bags and purses. It can scan items up to 165kg (360 lbs.).

This scanner still has all the same standard features as the other models in the line; six-color imaging, Real-Time Image Manipulation, Real-Time Self Diagnostics, reverse monochrome, and six-quadrant zoom. It also comes with a 160kV generator to allow it to operate even without an external power source. There is no warm-up period required when starting this machine.

Even with the bigger tunnel size, the XIS-6040 has a compact frame with dimensions 142 x 84.9 x 125.5 cm (55.9 x 33.4 x 49.4 inches), allowing it to be easily transported and set up in any hallway or room.

Since the XIS-6040 can accommodate larger packages and bags compared to other models, this makes it ideal for transport hubs like airports, seaports, bus terminals, and train stations. However, it can also be used in courthouses, museums, hotels, shopping malls, and public buildings, etc.
